More about this artwork

The painting depicts a rustic, golden teapot prominently centered against a soft, textured backdrop of cool hues primarily in blues, grays, and touches of warm pinks. The teapot itself is crafted with thick, expressive strokes of golden yellow, enriched with hints of green and blue, creating a lively, reflective metallic surface. A robust handle on one side and a spout on the other are simplified yet distinctly marked, contributing to the functional essence of the object. The lid of the teapot is adorned with a small, red knob which draws the eye as a focal point of color contrast. Above the teapot, an incomplete outline of the handle suggests motion or a slight transparency, delivering a sense of lightness to the solid form. The foreground and the area surrounding the teapot are painted with loose, broad strokes of beige, melding seamlessly into the cooler tones of the background, suggesting a nondistinct, flat surface upon which the teapot rests.

"I have been drawing since I was a child. I had a wonderful teacher, Ipolita Valeravičius, at the Jonava Art School. It's nice when thoughts and feelings conveyed on canvas evoke positive emotions in people. Paul Cumes and Bob Mask, my artist friends from the USA, have influenced me a lot as an artist. My work has been purchased by private individuals from Lithuania, USA, Germany and Switzerland. I paint in oils. I currently live and work in Šiauliai," the artist introduces herself.

Vilma's repertoire is dominated by cosy images of travels in Europe and flowering meadows. In her paintings, Vilma concentrates primarily on colour and expressive brushstrokes rather than on drawing and perspective, and her images become a seamless, shimmering fabric. The artist is focused on maintaining a warm, light colour palette and a cosy mood.
