More about this artwork

The painting captures a dreamlike vista, possibly set in a surreal, distant time or place. At the center, two figures, clad in elegant, flowing garments—one in blue and another in red—stand by a reflective body of water that appears to mirror everything above it. They are amidst a conversation in a serene yet otherworldly setting.Behind them stretches an expansive landscape dominated by ruins and remnants of old buildings bathed in a golden glow, depicting either a setting or rising sun that casts vibrant hues across the scene. The structures have an ancient feel, with pointed arches and scattered debris, suggesting a place long forgotten or a civilization reclaimed by nature. The sky, a dynamic swirl of blues and hints of white, suggests either early dawn or late dusk, lending a tranquil yet mysterious atmosphere to the entire scene. The painting blends elements of reality with the fantastical, creating an immersive, imaginative world that invites viewers to ponder the story and the conversation happening between the two central figures.

Artist

Jonas Dailidėnas (1953–2024) was born in the village of Stultiškiai, Panevėžys district, Lithuania. Since 1974, he actively participated in group exhibitions and held solo exhibitions. From the very beginning of his artistic journey, the artist was captivated by otherworldly realms and visions. The goal of Jonas Dailidėnas’ art was to free the viewer’s imagination, immerse them in unseen dimensions, and draw them into the world of his envisioned creations.

The artist’s works are inspired by self-reflection, the relationship between humans and the world, and self-connection. In his creative process, he relied solely on his imagination, personal experiences, and life philosophy. His pieces are visual stories intertwined with mysterious tales, legends, and myths. The canvases are dominated by a warm color palette, exuding tranquility and harmony.

In 2005, he was granted the status of an Artist-Creator.
