More about this artwork

The painting captures the picturesque coastal town of Amalfi, nestled at the foot of steep hillsides. Dominating the scene is a cluster of brightly colored buildings in shades of yellow, orange, and white, tightly packed together and ascending the hillside. At the center, a prominent structure with a blue-domed roof stands out, likely a significant local landmark or church. The foreground features the shimmering blue sea, dotted with reflections and gentle waves, where a solitary boat gently sways on the water. The play of light on the water's surface creates a mosaic of blues, teals, and whites, enhancing the sense of a vibrant, lively seascape.Lush greenery can be seen on the hill slopes surrounding the town, providing a rich contrast to the architectural colors and the azure tones of the sea. The overall effect is a lively, textured representation that conveys both the beauty and the bustling energy of Amalfi.

"I have been drawing since I was a child. I had a wonderful teacher, Ipolita Valeravičius, at the Jonava Art School. It's nice when thoughts and feelings conveyed on canvas evoke positive emotions in people. Paul Cumes and Bob Mask, my artist friends from the USA, have influenced me a lot as an artist. My work has been purchased by private individuals from Lithuania, USA, Germany and Switzerland. I paint in oils. I currently live and work in Šiauliai," the artist introduces herself.

Vilma's repertoire is dominated by cosy images of travels in Europe and flowering meadows. In her paintings, Vilma concentrates primarily on colour and expressive brushstrokes rather than on drawing and perspective, and her images become a seamless, shimmering fabric. The artist is focused on maintaining a warm, light colour palette and a cosy mood.
