More about this artwork

The painting features an abstract and otherworldly landscape, where elements of an old town are imaginatively blended into a natural setting. Two large, distorted circular forms dominate the scene, reminiscent of distorted reflections or mirages. These circles contain faded impressions of buildings—a mix of red-roofed and pale structures—giving the impression of a town viewed through a lens or a bubble. The background and foreground blend seamlessly, with earthy colors, and patches of green and blue suggesting a wild, overgrown area with sparse vegetation. A few trees with thin, bare branches are scattered across the foreground, adding to the desolate yet intriguing atmosphere of the scene. The sky is overcast, rendered with streaks of white and grey, which casts an eerie mood over the landscape. It seems to be a fusion of decay and endurance, highlighting both the resilience and the fragility of human constructions within nature's vast canvas.

In 1976, I graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Arts and acquired the profession of a decorative artist. In 1980 I participated in the first exhibition in Vilnius, and in 1982 - in Kaunas. I currently live and work in Vilnius.

I am fascinated by images of old town. Especially Vilnius impresses me very much due to its atmosphere of the past.

I am presenting here some of my landscape paintings in classic techique: pastel on paper. I made these art works in Vilnius and Great Britain during recent years.
