More about this artwork

In the foreground of the painting, there is a large, weathered stone frame, standing solitary. Its surface appears rough and eroded, giving the impression that it has withstood many years. Dark velvet-like drapery blows through this stone frame, suggesting movement and a ghostly presence, hinting at some ancient spirit or a forgotten past. The background features a serene, dusky sky with shades of blue and streaks that perhaps signify the wind or the passing of time. Below this sky, one can see a panorama of an old town, rendered in peaceful earth tones. The town consists of several traditional buildings, their red roofs adding a touch of warmth to the scene. A few leafless trees are dotted around, and what looks like a small pond or a patch of snow adds a bit of brightness to the landscape, reflecting the sky above it. The overall atmosphere evokes a somber yet intriguing feel, as if the painting is recounting tales from a time long gone.

In 1976, I graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Arts and acquired the profession of a decorative artist. In 1980 I participated in the first exhibition in Vilnius, and in 1982 - in Kaunas. I currently live and work in Vilnius.

I am fascinated by images of old town. Especially Vilnius impresses me very much due to its atmosphere of the past.

I am presenting here some of my landscape paintings in classic techique: pastel on paper. I made these art works in Vilnius and Great Britain during recent years.
