More about this artwork

The painting features a surreal and intriguing composition where a woman and a Dalmatian dog appear to be merged into a single entity. The woman's upper body seamlessly transitions into the body of the dog at her waist, suggesting a mythical or fantastical creature. Her head is tilted slightly upwards, and she grasps a branch or wand adorned with leaves that billows behind her like a flag. Attached to this wand by a string is a large, blooming flower, emphasizing a sense of movement or transformation. The figures are rendered in black and white, with the woman's and dog's bodies speckled with what appears to be floral or plant-like patterns, resonating with the nature-inspired elements of the wand and flower. The artwork exudes a whimsical yet poignant quality, exploring themes of identity, metamorphosis, and perhaps the intrinsic connection between humanity and nature.

Artist

Jūratė Sližytė (Slyžė)

„Creativity is a constant observation of the world, the transformation of accumulated sensations through one's personal prism into concrete material. During the work process, the thought, the vision becomes a specific object or work, which becomes the connection between the creator and the viewer.

To create art means to study diligently, to improve, to search for new forms of expression throughout one's life, to try to achieve one's "Truth" and to never stop. That "Truth" is usually very simple, but the road to it is long and often winding.”
