More about this artwork

The painting depicts a striking figure that merges avian and human characteristics, embodying an imaginative hybrid creature. The body and tail of the figure are richly detailed, resembling that of a peacock, complete with intricate feather patterns and a long, flowing tail. The upper part of the figure, however, morphs into the form of a human, specifically a woman's torso and head, adorned with a mask-like facial feature that echoes traditional masks, adding a surreal and mystical air. The torso is clad in a patterned fabric reminiscent of lace, which drapes gracefully over the bird's body, blending human fashion with the natural elegance of a peacock's plumage. The overall effect is enigmatic, evoking themes of transformation and the melding of different natural elements into a singular, fantastical entity.

Artist

Jūratė Sližytė (Slyžė)

„Creativity is a constant observation of the world, the transformation of accumulated sensations through one's personal prism into concrete material. During the work process, the thought, the vision becomes a specific object or work, which becomes the connection between the creator and the viewer.

To create art means to study diligently, to improve, to search for new forms of expression throughout one's life, to try to achieve one's "Truth" and to never stop. That "Truth" is usually very simple, but the road to it is long and often winding.”
