More about this artwork

The painting features a powerful, dynamic ocean wave in vivid shades of green and blue. The wave is at the crest of breaking, with white, frothy water tumbling energetically. The brushstrokes capture the tumultuous movement of the water, adding a textured, almost palpable feel to the surface. The background suggests a stormy sky, painted in muted tones that contrast with the vibrant colors of the wave. The sea foam patterns are intricate and detailed, swirling around in the surrounding water, adding depth and intensity to the scene. The overall atmosphere is one of nature's raw power and beauty, rendered with a sense of immediacy and motion.

Artist

Although the genre of marine art is far from being the easiest and requires a great deal of care, and has recently been forgotten by artists, Povilas Dirgėla is completely faithful to the sea and its element.

It is an inexhaustible theme for the artist - the sea in his paintings is gushing, rising in mighty waves, washing the sandy shores, splashing in the light of the sunset. Sometimes we see the waves crashing on the beach, and sometimes they rage in their majestic immensity. The Klaipėda-based artist says that he has been fascinated by the sea since childhood and has always had a special respect for it: "In my paintings, I try very hard not to offend the sea by being ignorant, disingenuous or badly painted. Maybe that's why the sea shows me its most beautiful and interesting places, which I try to capture on canvas."

Just note that you will never see a boat or a harbour in a painting by Povilas Dirgela, his work is dedicated to the play of water and light and the unpredictable omnipotence of the element.
