More about this artwork

The painting is made within a circular frame and features striking color contrasts, predominantly between vivid red-orange and deep blues. The left half of the circle is dominated by a blue background flecked with lighter blue tones, suggesting a night sky sprinkled with stars. On this side, there are also several abstract shapes and undetermined script-like marks drawn in a flowing, white line.Transitioning to the right half, the scene dramatically shifts to a rich, fiery red-orange hue, evoking a sense of urgency or tumult. This side also displays angular, shard-like forms that appear to be more chaotic, pointing in various directions, which could suggest disruption or conflict. The boundary between the two halves is marked by a faint, sketchy vertical line that barely defines a separation, indicating perhaps a fragile barrier between two contrasting states or worlds. The overall composition conveys a dynamic and perhaps unsettled narrative, resonating with the theme of a prayer for peace amid vivid depictions of discord and harmony.

Artist

The artist's credo:

"Painting is a necessity and a vocation for me, but art is not my religion. I am a human being first and a painter second. A painter cannot create in isolation from reality. A painting has to have a need and a desire ... I am, therefore I paint. I love, I paint ... therefore ... I am."

As the artist herself says, an artist cannot break away from reality, and this loose connection with reality is beautifully reflected in her expressive landscapes. The artist pays great attention to the sky and its elements, the low horizon lines giving way to the drama in the skies. The impression is further enhanced by the reflections of the sky on the surface of the water and the soft, gentle shapes of the clouds.
