More about this artwork

The artwork displays a detailed etching of Vilnius Old Town, manifesting a nostalgic and historical panorama. At the foreground, sparsely drawn bushes and trees provide a natural frame, leading the eye towards an assortment of architectural forms in the middle and background. Prominent among these are several baroque-style buildings characterized by ornate facades and steeply pitched roofs. Noticeably, a towering structure with a high spire stands out, anchoring the composition and drawing attention with its vertical prominence. Smaller buildings, varying in height and details, cluster around this central edifice, suggesting a densely built historic urban area. The skyline is broken up by numerous sharp angles of rooftops and the curved domes of several smaller towers and steeples. The etching style, with its fine lines and attention to textural details, adds a sense of depth and age to the scene, evoking the rich history of Vilnius.

I was born in Jonava in 1969. I studied at Kaunas St. Žukas Applied Arts Technical School. In 1989 I entered Vilnius Art Academy, graphics specialty. I graduated from the Academy in 1995. Since 1994 I participate in exhibitions. I have organized solo exhibitions in Kėdainiai, Jonava, Kaunas and other cities. I have also participated at international exhibitions in Austria (Linz), Russia (St. Petersburg) and elsewhere. My works are in private collections in Lithuania,  USA and Australia.

In my works, I want to find a dialogue with the audience. Society and personality being in the historical and contemporary, philosophical, theological, mythological meaning. In my works I try to solve problems of life and time peacefully, avoiding expressionism and primitivism. For my artistic expression I chose the graphics - etching, dry needle technique. Black and white opposition I connect into a single texture.
