More about this artwork

The painting depicts a picturesque view of an old town, framed through the curved, expansive window of an attic. Dominating the center of the scene is an elegant, golden-hued church with two prominent bell towers topped with greenish rooftops, reflecting a radiance that contrasts with the surrounding muted tones. Below and around the church, clusters of rustic, red-roofed houses nestle amidst lush greenery, suggesting a serene, tightly-knit community. The foreground shows the dark, wooden beams of the attic, which adds a sense of depth and enclosure, focusing the viewer's eye towards the warmly lit architecture and the peaceful life it symbolizes. Gentle strokes and the intricate use of light suggest a tranquil, almost timeless atmosphere within the urban landscape.

In 1976, I graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Arts and acquired the profession of a decorative artist. In 1980 I participated in the first exhibition in Vilnius, and in 1982 - in Kaunas. I currently live and work in Vilnius.

I am fascinated by images of old town. Especially Vilnius impresses me very much due to its atmosphere of the past.

I am presenting here some of my landscape paintings in classic techique: pastel on paper. I made these art works in Vilnius and Great Britain during recent years.
