Artist

Greta Skya was born and grew up in Trakai, a small but culturally rich Lithuanian town. Her love for painting was born very early. Since childhood Greta has been observing and analysing her father's oil paintings. She, like her father, is a self-taught artist. At the age of 19, Greta moved to London for a decade, where she studied acting, graduated with a BA in Acting and worked consistently in British theatres.

However, painting has never left the young artist, and Greta now creates paintings that capture the moods and feelings of contemporary women. You will immediately notice that Greta's women have animal heads, emphasising their wild nature. And sometimes they are headless, emphasising that it is the heart, not the head, that should guide us. As the titles suggest, these women are strong, stubborn and independent.

The style of the paintings is theatrical - strong drawing, flat spots of colour, a break from visual reality, the fusion of the human and animal body, each element as in theatre, designed to "pop out" at the right moment.

Greta currently lives and paints in Vilnius.
