More about this artwork

This artwork presents a sculpted apple, exuding a golden sheen that captures and plays with light. The surface is smooth with soft, rounded curves that delineate the fruit’s plump form. Attached to the top of the apple is a stem that extends into a stylized leaf, overly large in relation to the fruit itself, adding a whimsical imbalance to the piece. The entire sculpture radiates a glossy finish, giving it a luxurious, almost ethereal quality. Its reflective surface not only mirrors its surroundings but also seems to glow from within, suggesting a sense of value or magic typically associated with golden objects in folklore, such as the mystical golden apple.

Artist

Marius Zavadskis (1979) focuses on myths, which have always been a part of human existence, reflecting fundamental values. The author has been close to biblical themes since his student days, and through familiar images he speaks about things that remain relevant to this day - the origin of man, his place in the world, the journey and purpose of life.

In 2003, he graduated in sculpture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. He works in the fields of sculpture and illustration. For his chamber sculptures, the artist usually chooses classical materials and subjects.
