More about this artwork

The painting features a collection of insects rendered in a sketch-like, monochrome style. A large beetle dominates the central portion of the artwork, detailed with striped markings on its shell and its limbs poised as though in mid-movement. Above and to the left of the large beetle, a variety of smaller insects are displayed in a grid-like arrangement, each distinct in form but similarly executed in a detailed, realistic manner. To the bottom right, there’s a crescent-shaped cutout revealing a small, intricate drawing of a classical building, possibly hinting at a narrative or symbolic connection. The overall effect is both scientific, reminiscent of entomological studies, and artistically expressive.
