More about this artwork

The painting captures a dynamic seascape of the Baltic Sea, vividly portraying its churning, turbulent waves in various shades of green, blue, and white. The sea is rough, with powerful waves cresting and crashing into frothy foam. Above this tumultuous water, the sky is a mix of blues and grays, suggesting a stormy or windy day. Scattered clouds float across the sky, reflecting both the sunlight and the ocean's tumult beneath. Flocks of birds, tiny and distant, are seen navigating the gusty winds, adding life and movement to the scene. The horizon is a blur where the churning sea meets the shifting skies, enhancing the overall sense of a natural, unbridled environment. This artwork conveys both the beauty and the formidable power of the Baltic Sea.

Valdas Ančeris is a representative of the Marinist genre, which has been lacking in popularity in recent years, but which has only become more distinctive as a result, expressing himself in a realistic manner. His paintings are impressive in their realism - when you look at them, it is as if you are waiting for a foamy wave to roll in. In the large-format canvases with a marinist theme, the cold waves of the sea crash against the shore with astonishing force against the backdrop of a warm sky, with the sun peeping through the clouds.

The artist says that his love for the sea has been with him all his life - perhaps because he is originally from Klaipėda and still lives there.

He has been exhibiting since 1996.
