More about this artwork

The painting depicts a tranquil, autumnal scene set within a solemn memorial park in Kaunas, Lithuania. At the center stands a prominent stone pyramid monument, adorned with a cross at its peak and a plaque at its base. It is surrounded by a series of grey and white tombstones varying in size and shape, some bearing busts and one resembling a classic column. Flanking the scene is an array of lush trees, their leaves painted in vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and green, suggesting the season of fall. A well-trodden path curves gently from the foreground to the background, leading the viewer’s eye through this serene and reflective space. The soft play of light across the setting enhances the quiet reverence appropriate to such a commemorative place.
