More about this artwork

The painting depicts a delicate bouquet of wildflowers, rendered in subtle shades of ink wash. Dominating the composition is a tall, slender plant at the center, its thin stem stretching upwards, topped with a cluster of fine, star-like blooms. Surrounding this central figure are various types of foliage and smaller flowers, each detailed with precise brushstrokes that capture the lightness and texture of real plant life. The leaves range from broad and flat to slender and feathery, creating a contrast in forms that adds depth and diversity to the scene. The background is a soft gradient of gray, fading into the lighter tones at the edges, which brings the viewer’s focus to the intricate forms and ghostly silhouettes of the plants. A red seal in the lower right corner contrasts vividly with the monochromatic palette, adding a splash of color to the otherwise muted composition.

Jolanta Sereikaitė is not only a painter, but also a writer - perhaps that is why she tries to describe the objects she depicts on canvas, using brushstrokes, lines, colours, and plasticity.

Recently, she has been working mainly with the oriental technique of ink on rice paper, depicting nature, plants and birds. She strives for naturalness in her work, without losing sight of the essence of the objects depicted. Through a plastic line and a sensitive brushstroke, the artist convincingly reveals the fragility and vitality of nature.

Sereikaitė has held eight solo art exhibitions and participated in more than forty group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
