More about this artwork

The painting depicts a delicate and ethereal arrangement of wildflowers rendered in grayscale watercolors. At a glance, there’s a sense of vertical composition that tracks upwards, hosting an assortment of flora. Dominating the scene is a tall stem adorned with leaves and elongated bell-shaped flowers that evoke images of a foxglove or similar species. To its left, there is a flowering plant characterized by a spherical bloom of fine-wisp-like petals perhaps akin to Queen Anne’s lace, giving a light, airy texture to the piece.Other members of this meadow bunch include plants with smaller, clustered flower heads and feather-like foliage, adding to the varied texture and depth. Throughout the painting, the artist uses washes of ink to achieve a gentle shading effect that suggests volume and space while maintaining a soft, almost dreamy aesthetic. Darker tones near the base suggest shadows or denser foliage, grounding the composition with a bit of weight. The overall effect is serene and natural, inviting the viewer to contemplate the quiet beauty of wild botanicals.

Jolanta Sereikaitė is not only a painter, but also a writer - perhaps that is why she tries to describe the objects she depicts on canvas, using brushstrokes, lines, colours, and plasticity.

Recently, she has been working mainly with the oriental technique of ink on rice paper, depicting nature, plants and birds. She strives for naturalness in her work, without losing sight of the essence of the objects depicted. Through a plastic line and a sensitive brushstroke, the artist convincingly reveals the fragility and vitality of nature.

Sereikaitė has held eight solo art exhibitions and participated in more than forty group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
