More about this artwork

The painting captures the majestic Kaunas City Hall in broad brushstrokes and earthy tones. The building, a predominant feature, stands tall with a baroque facade characterized by an intricate array of windows and architectural detail that draw the eye upwards to a graceful spire. The base of the City Hall is robust, welcoming viewers into its grand entrance flanked by decorative elements and sculptures. In the foreground, the vast square opens up, surrounded by hints of urban life and cobblestone patches hinting at the historic essence of the setting. A lone figure, possibly a visitor or a local, traverses the square, adding a sense of scale and life to the scene. To the top left, a fragment of green foliage intrudes slightly into the frame, suggesting the presence of nearby trees or a park, offering a soft, natural contrast to the solid, crafted lines of the architecture. The sky above is painted in soft hues of blue, suggesting either early day or late afternoon, casting gentle light across the structure and plaza.
