More about this artwork

The painting portrays a soft, ethereal blur of pastel tones, with dabs and speckles of colors that appear to float gently over a hazy background. The dominant hues are subtle shades of blue, grey, pink, and green, interspersed with occasional bursts of brighter colors like red, yellow, and deep blue. The overall effect is reminiscent of a dreamy, diffused landscape or a softly unfocused floral scene. The colors blend softly into one another, creating a tranquil and somewhat melancholic atmosphere, suggesting a visual representation of a gentle musical movement, full of emotion yet restrained, much like the title "Sonata. Allegro ma non troppo" suggests.

Artist

Junija (Yuna) Galejeva is an abstract oil painter from Lithuania. With a background in musicology, she approaches art with a musician's mindset, applying melodic movement and improvisation to her creations. Working with oils and acrylics on canvas, she explores color nuances and textures to craft emotive, rhythmic compositions. Intuitive pulsions lead her hand and brush into repetitive pattern-like compositions that expand on the canvas, opening up the viewer's field of vision. The touch is soft and meditative or vigorous and dynamic, according to Yuna's emotional inclinations. Either way, the artist welcomes us unreservedly into the intimacy of her psychological sphere, prompting a wave of instinctive associative responses.

Yuna's abstract paintings are a musical expression in visual form. The harmonious and delicate palette has a soothing contemplative aura that refreshes the senses. There is an emotional depth to the work which encourages active engagement with the viewer.

She currently resides in Vilnius, where she works as an editor for the national radio program LRT Klasika and as a lecturer on the history of baroque opera at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
