More about this artwork

The painting depicts Christ's Resurrection Church in Kaunas, captured in a striking, vertical perspective that emphasizes its towering architecture. The church rises prominently at the center, structured with numerous vertical lines that suggest its grand height and slender form. Its façade is adorned with a series of long, narrow windows and a main entrance that appears inviting yet solemn. The tower is crowned with what seems to be a small cross, subtly asserting the building's religious significance.Flanking the church are softer, more fluid representations of trees and smaller buildings, their details slightly blurred, giving a gentle contrast to the sharp lines of the church. The sky above transitions from a light wash at the horizon to deeper blues at the top, suggesting either early morning or late evening light, casting a serene glow over the scene. The foreground shows a street leading up to the church, drawing the viewer's eye directly towards the main entrance. A few figures are discernible near the steps of the church, small and rendered in loose strokes, emphasizing the scale and the solemnity of the church as the focal point of the composition. These figures add a touch of life and scale to the scene, hinting at the church's role as a place of gathering and spirituality.Overall, the artist uses a blend of realism and a touch of impressionism, the vivid yet somewhat hazy portrayal invites the viewer to experience both the physical grandeur and the tranquil atmosphere of the site.
