More about this artwork

The painting captures a serene moment at a yacht club in Kaunas, as seen from the deck of a boat. In the foreground, the viewer is placed inside the cockpit of a yacht, looking out towards the water. Various elements of the yacht's equipment, such as the steering wheel, ropes, and part of the navigational gear, are depicted in detail. The boat’s interior is painted in shades of blue and white, contrasting with the rough textures of the sea.The water is lively and choppy, rendered in varying shades of blue, white, and grey, suggesting movement and the briskness of the wind. Several yachts with sails raised can be seen in the midground, gracefully gliding over the water. The sails are mostly white, with some featuring hints of pink and blue, catching the light of what seems to be a late afternoon sky.In the background, the opposite shore is visible with hints of greenery and small structures, possibly docks or other facilities related to the yacht club. The sky above is a mix of blues and whites, with fluffy clouds suggesting a breezy yet bright day. The overall mood is one of calmness and leisure, typical of a day spent sailing.

Artist

Artist Rasa Staskonytė is an enthusiastic seeker by nature. Wherever she travels, she carries oil paints and canvases with her, because she simply can't help painting.

According to the artist, the best way to paint is to paint from life - not only the surface, but also the inner world is revealed. Rasa feels this especially when painting portraits of people - underneath the exterior, which is sometimes rough, you can see a person's experiences, and then you understand why they are the way they are. Rasa also breathes life into plants, using shimmering brushstrokes to convey their swaying. And all of her work is accompanied by vivid, transparent colours.
