More about this artwork

The painting displays a vibrant and abstract portrait of a face. Bold strokes of orange, blue, and red paint dominate the canvas, creating an almost fragmented view of the subject. The face is depicted in a stylized form, with sections appearing to overlap and blend into each other. Various graphic elements, possibly indicative of modern technology or circuitry, are interspersed throughout the image, suggesting a thematic connection to contemporary life possibly symbolized by the title mentioning microwaves. The eyes of the figure, somber and penetrating, seem to stare out from the milieu of vivid colors and abstract shapes, capturing the viewer’s attention amidst the chaos of color and form.

Rasa Makaraitytė is an emerging Lithuanian artist based in Rome. After graduating in architecture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania, Rasa turned to visual art. In Rome, she works in graphic design, photography, video art, illustration and painting.
Using a variety of techniques, Rasa's work gives form to fleeting memories. The images she captures speak of crisis, triumph, momentum and desire; they pulsate with emotion, which she expresses with bright colours, expressive brushstrokes and a black outline that brings everything together and holds everything in check. The artist likes to be more silent than to say. This way, one is not tied to one particular storyline, to the artist's own experience, and opens the door to versatility, to a wider freedom of interpretation.
