More about this artwork

The painting presents a textured abstract landscape, weaving pale blue and grey hues throughout the canvas. The flow of color segments suggests a winding river or pathway, bordered by what appears to be buildings or cliffs. Some areas of the painting possess a rough, brushy texture, while others appear smoothed out, as if eroded by natural elements. Black and deep blue spots dot the upper left quadrant of the piece, contributing to an irregular, almost map-like composition. The overall atmosphere is slightly somber, yet intriguing, pulling the viewer's eye along its winding, mysterious depth.

Artist

Reda Ptakauskienė attempts to capture life with reflections, small fragments and details, ornaments that catch the eye.

After all, when we see an image, we don't usually remember all of it, but only what it touches us personally. That is why Reda's paintings are juxtaposed with various fragments that the artist manages to capture in our fast-moving world. Recently, Reda's work has been dominated by fragments of national patterns and ornaments, which contain our history, as signs of the self, letters from our ancestors, accompanying us into the present.

Every time she paints, she tries to try something new, to create a different mood in each of her works.

The artist is a graduate of the Kaunas Art Institute of the Academy of Fine Arts (painting studies).
