More about this artwork

The painting is an abstract representation, swirling with shades of blue, white, and hints of green and brown. The textured layers seem to evoke a sense of chaotic frost and ice, blending into what can be interpreted as a watery or icy pool in the center. Surrounding this focal point are splashes and strokes that suggest melting and refreezing, creating a dynamic and fluid interplay of colors and forms. The upper section features darker hues that might suggest a shadowed sky or a reflecting surface, contributing to the impression of a cold, wintery landscape. The entire composition pulses with a raw, natural energy, as if capturing a moment of both tumult and tranquility in a winter setting.

Artist

Junija (Yuna) Galejeva is an abstract oil painter from Lithuania. With a background in musicology, she approaches art with a musician's mindset, applying melodic movement and improvisation to her creations. Working with oils and acrylics on canvas, she explores color nuances and textures to craft emotive, rhythmic compositions. Intuitive pulsions lead her hand and brush into repetitive pattern-like compositions that expand on the canvas, opening up the viewer's field of vision. The touch is soft and meditative or vigorous and dynamic, according to Yuna's emotional inclinations. Either way, the artist welcomes us unreservedly into the intimacy of her psychological sphere, prompting a wave of instinctive associative responses.

Yuna's abstract paintings are a musical expression in visual form. The harmonious and delicate palette has a soothing contemplative aura that refreshes the senses. There is an emotional depth to the work which encourages active engagement with the viewer.

She currently resides in Vilnius, where she works as an editor for the national radio program LRT Klasika and as a lecturer on the history of baroque opera at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
