More about this artwork

This painting depicts a serene scene of early spring in what might be an old residential area. In the foreground, there’s a faintly sketched, leaf-strewn pathway and a small rustic wooden bench. A lone figure, possibly a woman, is sitting on the bench, enjoying the tranquil surroundings. She appears to be reading or may simply be soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The central focus of the artwork is a large, multi-story building that exudes a historic charm. Its architecture is quite eclectic, featuring a mix of design elements that suggest a combination of residential purposes. The bottom part of the building shows soggy, earth-toned walls, perhaps suggesting wear or moisture retention typical in such settings. The mid-section boasts a wide balcony lined with reddish-brown railing, facing the viewer and offering a sweeping view of the surroundings.Above this, the top tier of the building presents an expanded attic space, possibly converted into a studio or additional living area, characterized by large windows and an outward facing gable end. The structure is framed by two bare trees, indicating early spring when the leaves have not yet appeared. Their branches stretch out, partially obscuring the building and adding a touch of natural wildness to the scene. The overall mood conveyed is one of quietude and reflection, enhanced by the soft, muted palette of greys, browns, and subtle yellows used throughout the painting. The dreary sky suggests an overcast day, perhaps after a recent rain, which adds to the painting’s atmosphere of calm and freshness after precipitation. The artist has skillfully captured the essence of a moment of solitude against the backdrop of time-worn architecture, surrounded by the burgeoning signs of spring.

Artist

Eugis Eidukaitis was born in Russia, Sibir on November, 1965 in a family of Lithuanian
exile. He grew up and spent big part of his life in Moldova, Chisinau. First touch to art started
there in Chisinau art school. Artist ended University and got medicine diplome, but art and
paintings were always a hobby and sometimes source of livelihood.
In 2000 he came back to Lithuania and started to draw and paint even more. Art became
constat thing in life.

His favourite genre is the urban or natural landscape, but he is not tempted to romanticise or embellish them. Nevertheless, one can sense that his view of reality is forgiving and gentle. He looks for a distinctive beauty in each motif, which is revealed through the contrast of light and shadow, the vivid, soft colours.

Paintings and watercolor adorn dozens of private collections.
