More about this artwork

The painting features a vibrant cluster of blossoms, highlighted by bold white strokes that stand out against a backdrop rich in blues and greens. This central bouquet pops with hints of red, yellow, and purple, suggesting the presence of diverse flowers and perhaps some hidden buds about to bloom. The strokes are thick and textured, giving the floral arrangement a dynamic, almost tumultuous appearance, as if stirred by a gentle breeze. The background swirls with shades of blue, from deep navy to lighter azure, mimicking a sky that varies with the flow of the day from dawn to dusk. This contrast emphasizes the brightness of the flowers, making them appear as though they are illuminated from within. The use of color and the impasto technique adds depth and a sense of movement, inviting the viewer to consider the interplay of light and shadow, and the fleeting nature of a blooming flower.

Albinas Markevečius is a landscape painter with a unique style, who prefers the nature of his motherland. Albinas' paintings are characterised by a strong, broad brushstroke, which has already become the author's signature, abstracted, generalised forms and, surprisingly given the moderate shades of the Lithuanian landscape, bright, pure colours, which obviously come from his stained glass studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, where the artist received his higher education.

From 1980 to 1989 he taught painting and composition at the Art Institute.

Currently lives and works in Vilnius. He works in stained glass and painting.

Albinas Markevičius' works have been acquired by private collectors from various countries: the USA, India, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Japan.

Solo and group exhibitions have been held in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark and Lithuania.
