Eglė Colucci graduated in architecture, but has always been a painter. After spending a year in Japan as an artist-in-residence, she travelled around the world visiting exotic countries. Since 2009 she has been living in Argentina, but returns to Lithuania every year.
Eglė Colucci is an exceptional artist on our platform; her work will take you to a surreal world that's one big party, an eternal celebration of life. She lives in Argentina, which inspires her works with bright colours and dynamics, but look closely - in some places, the rhythms of tango are intertwined with the modernist architecture of Kaunas.
The main protagonists of Egle Colucci's paintings are flexible and dynamic figures. They dance, act, enjoy life. The artist's favourite subject is the tango. In the large compositions, dozens of couples dance in step.
However, despite the format, the artist gives the impression that the frenzied action is far from stopping at the frame of the painting, and that the most unexpected stories expand and spread out in the rhythm of the dance in space.
The artist's work has been noticed in Japan, where she has had several solo exhibitions.
