About the author
Eglė Colucci is both an artist and an architect, with a deep and abiding love for painting. Her artistic path features an influential residency in Japan, an experience that deeply shaped her perspective and helped forge her individual style. After her time in Japan, she set out on far-reaching journeys, discovering vibrant and distant corners across the globe.
Since 2009, Eglė Colucci has called Argentina home, yet she stays closely connected to her homeland of Lithuania, returning for annual visits. The energy and liveliness of Argentina serve as major sources of inspiration for her, bringing bold colors and dynamic arrangements into her art. Her paintings frequently merge the passionate spirit of Argentine tango with features of Kaunas’s modernist architecture, crafting a captivating conversation between the cultures she has embraced and inherited.
At the core of Eglė Colucci’s creative work is her portrayal of spirited, animated figures. Her artworks teem with lithe characters caught in the midst of dance, performance, and celebration. The tango—marked by vigor and grace—serves as a persistent motif, often depicted on a grand scale where many couples glide together, radiating movement and happiness.
Even within the confines of canvas, her paintings suggest that the revelry persists beyond the visible scene, as if the dance and its narratives are unending. The vibrancy she brings to her work has gained her recognition in Japan, where she has staged multiple solo shows, strengthening her reputation as a unique figure in the world of contemporary art.
