More about this artwork

In the painting titled "Silence" by Jolanta Gegelevičiūtė, the canvas is dominated by a textured, warm yellow background that evokes a sense of depth through its varying shades and strokes. Placed purposefully around the center of the canvas are four rectangular bars, each a different color. From left to right: a solid, deep blue, a muted white, a rich magenta, and a subdued olive green. These simple geometric forms stand out against the yellow, creating a minimalistic, yet striking visual harmony that invites contemplation and a serene stillness. The composition, with ample negative space, allows each element to breathe, enhancing the overall tranquil and introspective mood of the artwork.

Artist statement

The path is tempting. The path leads. The path misleads. The path grows...

And above all, it does not let you stop.

There are many ways to travel: physically, virtually, imaginatively...

The path is always a perspective. A glance into the distance, and a glance back. From the perspective of the road. That's why it looks more beautiful there than here. It is not necessary to go into details, it is better to summarise, to look at everything through a mist of soft idealism. Because it is more beautiful. Because it hurts less.

The path can be called an escape from reality. Or a rise above the daily life.

Or maybe the true PATH is actually being in the HERE and NOW? Simply – BEING in motion.
