More about this artwork

In the painting titled "Youth" by Alvydas Venslauskas, a female figure is depicted from a back view, surrounded by a dynamic and colorful blend of flowers. The woman, with her head bowed and her hair cascading down in a loose, untamed manner, exudes a sense of introspection or quietude. Her skin is painted in a bronze tone, with soft highlights that suggest a gentle illumination, perhaps symbolic of youth's vitality and transient glow. The background is abstract, consisting of deep blues and stark whites, which provide a stark contrast that foregrounds the figure and the vivid, multi-colored floral arrangement that erupts from the lower half of the canvas. These flowers, rendered in lively pinks, purples, yellows, and whites, seem almost to be growing from the woman herself, suggesting a metaphorical blooming or the flourishing of life at its peak. The brushwork is loose, adding a dreamlike quality to the image, with splatters and strokes that imply a fusion of energy, beauty, and the fleeting nature of the moment captured.

Alvydas Venslauskas is a painter who has set himself the strict goal of creating beauty, which is why you'll mostly see women and flowers in his work - the artist says he can't think of anything more beautiful. His aim is to create a painting that will make your home feel cosy and help you relax when you get home after work.

In fact, the relationship between man and nature is almost the most important theme in his work. Although the artist's creativity is seemingly infinite, this theme recurs in almost every painting, only in a different way thanks to the artist's inventiveness. Sometimes it is fantastical landscapes with fanciful trees, houses floating in the air or floating down rivers, and sometimes it is women picking fruit or berries like the joy of life itself.

The artist is constantly travelling to different parts of the world in search of inspiration. His works are always full of bright, warm colours that perfectly convey good emotions, and his brushstrokes are quick and expressive; the artist says that he does not want to play with details, but rather with the overall image and impression. Interestingly, although Alvydas has his favourite authors whom he admires, he tries not to look at their works too often, so as not to unwittingly copy them - the most important thing for an artist is to preserve his own identity.

His works have been bought by many people not only from Lithuania, but also from all over the world - many from the USA, Russia and Australia.

Since 1985 he has been exhibiting in Kaunas, Vilnius, Palanga, as well as in private galleries in Germany, France, USA, Russia.
