More about this artwork

The painting depicts two figures, likely females, positioned on either side of a central image that draws the eye. The figure on the left stands slightly forward and gazes directly at the viewer, her expression somber under long, straight hair that falls past her shoulders. She is dressed in a simple, light-colored dress, and her stance suggests a moment of paused action, almost as if she's just turned toward us. To her left, amidst a backdrop that appears tumultuous and shadowy, sits a small, detailed house surrounded by patches of grass or vegetation, adding a sense of rural or pastoral life. The figure on the right mirrors the left in positioning but with a slightly different posture. She stands upright, her long hair also loose, framing her face as it flows down. Like the first, her attire is uncomplicated, enhancing the feeling of simplicity and perhaps a timeless, almost ethereal quality.Between and slightly above the two figures, a large, dark feathered wing dominates, sweeping upwards and filling the central space with a dynamic contrast of darkness against the lighter figures of the women. This wing, powerful and detailed, might symbolize a myriad of concepts from protection to transcendence, adding a layer of mysticism or depth to the overall composition.Overall, the atmosphere is one of quiet intensity, with each element—the figures, the house, the wing—interplaying to evoke themes of companionship, protection, and perhaps hidden stories within a seemingly serene garden setting.

I was born in Jonava in 1969. I studied at Kaunas St. Žukas Applied Arts Technical School. In 1989 I entered Vilnius Art Academy, graphics specialty. I graduated from the Academy in 1995. Since 1994 I participate in exhibitions. I have organized solo exhibitions in Kėdainiai, Jonava, Kaunas and other cities. I have also participated at international exhibitions in Austria (Linz), Russia (St. Petersburg) and elsewhere. My works are in private collections in Lithuania,  USA and Australia.

In my works, I want to find a dialogue with the audience. Society and personality being in the historical and contemporary, philosophical, theological, mythological meaning. In my works I try to solve problems of life and time peacefully, avoiding expressionism and primitivism. For my artistic expression I chose the graphics - etching, dry needle technique. Black and white opposition I connect into a single texture.
