More about this artwork

The painting depicts the majestic facade of Pažaislis Monastery, featuring a detailed portrayal of baroque architecture. The structure is highlighted by three distinct towers, each capped with a dome and intricate embellishments that capture the light. The central dome, larger than the others, sits gracefully above a grand arched entrance, underlined by ornate windows and statuary that provide a sense of depth and reverence. The front entrance is framed by columns and pilasters, leading to a set of doors that suggest a passage to a serene, spiritual interior. At the base of the image, a shadowy figure stands, perhaps a visitor or a monk, dwarfed by the enormity and grandeur of the architectural achievement. The etching style, with its fluent yet precise lines, accentuates the texture and stonework of the building's exterior, enhancing the play of light and shadow, which brings the monastery to life with a quiet, hallowed presence.

I was born in Jonava in 1969. I studied at Kaunas St. Žukas Applied Arts Technical School. In 1989 I entered Vilnius Art Academy, graphics specialty. I graduated from the Academy in 1995. Since 1994 I participate in exhibitions. I have organized solo exhibitions in Kėdainiai, Jonava, Kaunas and other cities. I have also participated at international exhibitions in Austria (Linz), Russia (St. Petersburg) and elsewhere. My works are in private collections in Lithuania,  USA and Australia.

In my works, I want to find a dialogue with the audience. Society and personality being in the historical and contemporary, philosophical, theological, mythological meaning. In my works I try to solve problems of life and time peacefully, avoiding expressionism and primitivism. For my artistic expression I chose the graphics - etching, dry needle technique. Black and white opposition I connect into a single texture.
