Artist

Marius Morkūnas is a young generation artist.

The artist has been working in the fields of design, painting and photography for 23 years now, and he himself says that his goal in painting is peace, to be able to rest spiritually while looking at a painting, and he certainly succeeds in this. Using a minimal colour palette and a stylised line and single brushstrokes, he creates a clean, minimalist landscape that is not cluttered with details and that draws the eye into the distance.

The predominant theme of his work is the seaside and the seashore, and the artist, who originally comes from the seaside, is always attracted by water, which usually gently ripples in his paintings, or calmly glides by. Interestingly, the paintings almost never show a clear boundary between the water and the sky, they merge into one, the horizon line can only be implied, and space thus becomes infinite. The author's favourite motifs are the pine trees by the seaside, stubbornly refusing to give in to the sea and the wind, the coastal fir trees waving in the breeze, and, of course, boats.

The artist's work is clearly influenced by Japanese art, in which he has a keen interest. The artistic compositions show a different perception of aesthetics. As the artist is also a photographer, he often uses his own artistic photographs to purify the composition and colour palette.

These paintings will appeal to those who seek harmony in their homes, and are particularly recommended for the bedroom, where it is important to relax and calm the mind.

The author lives and works in Kaunas. He has been involved in art since early childhood, and from the age of five he had a strong attraction to art. When he started going to school, art lessons and clubs were a priority, and when they became too small, he enrolled in the art school BRAKO in 1985.Later, he enrolled in, studied at and graduated from the Klaipėda Eduardas Balsis Gymnasium of Art (1986-1995).

(1995-1999) studied and graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Institute of Arts, Klaipėda Visual Design Department, Visual Design major in Art History and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design. He continued his studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 2001 obtained a Master's degree in Visual Design in Art.
