More about this artwork

The painting captures a dynamic seascape where the rolling waves of the Baltic Sea dominate the scene, edged by a sandy shore. The waves, detailed in hues of green and white, crash energetically, creating foamy crests and sprays. The azure and teal tones within the waves contrast vividly against the pale sand, tinged with gold from the reflective sunlight. Above, the sky is a dramatic expanse of clouds blending shades from a stormy gray to a soft, warm peach, suggesting either a setting sun or a temperament in flux. Small, dark birds flutter distantly above the horizon line, their shapes tiny against the vastness of sky and sea. The painting pulses with the natural energy and changing moods of the seascape, encapsulated within a moment of natural beauty and raw power.

Artist

Valdas Ančeris is a representative of the Marinist genre, which has been lacking in popularity in recent years, but which has only become more distinctive as a result, expressing himself in a realistic manner. His paintings are impressive in their realism - when you look at them, it is as if you are waiting for a foamy wave to roll in. In the large-format canvases with a marinist theme, the cold waves of the sea crash against the shore with astonishing force against the backdrop of a warm sky, with the sun peeping through the clouds.

The artist says that his love for the sea has been with him all his life - perhaps because he is originally from Klaipėda and still lives there.

He has been exhibiting since 1996.
