More about this artwork

The painting unfolds in a dreamlike tableau that straddles abstraction and hints of landscape. It captures an ethereal morning scene, possibly inspired by the Baltic region as its title suggests. At the top, a sky brushed in serene blues and pale gold transitions gradually into a horizon tinged with soft yellows, rose hues, and gentle lavender, suggesting the tender caress of dawn.Dominating the scene is a central, ghostly figure, an apparition formed by patches of negative white space that stands stark against the more vibrant colors surrounding it. This spectral presence seems to gaze out towards the viewer, elusive and enigmatic.Below this figure, the painting is divided horizontally in a dramatic shift in both color and texture. Below the horizon line, saturated golds, rich ambers, and deep shadows create a reflection-like effect, reminiscent of a body of water mirroring the light and colors of the sky above. Vertical drips and streaks of paint run downward, suggesting rain or perhaps tears of the sky, adding a palpable sense of melancholy or cleansing.Throughout, the work is infused with a sense of stillness and depth, inviting contemplation. It evokes the fleeting, beautiful moment when the world is neither fully night nor day, existing in a soft luminal space, wrapped in silence and mystery. The painting's technique—with its intentional blurring and layering of colors—adds a tactile quality, as if the morning mist has settled upon the canvas itself.

In Lina Beržanskytė-Trembo's work, as the artist herself says, nothing is invented, everything is felt. It is a world of feelings and inner experiences that has taken shape on canvas.

Lina's artistic expression balances between abstraction and recognisable silhouettes of women and landscapes. It is important for the artist to work impromptu, to let the hand move, to guide herself, to make the work as organic as possible, to reflect as accurately as possible what is going on inside. Although the artist is also familiar with natural motifs and depictions of natural transformations, her works are mostly devoted to the themes of the inner world of man: loneliness, peace of mind, prophetic visions, prayer, touching eternity, love. Even through the motifs of nature, the author tries to convey the cycles that occur in human beings - desolation, stagnation, resurrection, blossoming, abundance.

"It seems that through the elasticity and vitality of the line, the frenzy of colours, I manage to capture the connection between the moment and the Eternal Mystery, and that this is best revealed through the uncharted vision and the charm of unexplored desires," says the artist.

The author was born in 1970 in Vilnius, into a family of physicians. In 1989, she graduated from the M. K. Čiurlionis Art School (diploma in painting, lecturers M. Skudutis, V. Jusionis). In the same year, she entered the Vilnius Academy of Arts, specialising in fresco-mosaic. In 1995, after graduation, she went to Stuttgart, Germany, where she held her personal exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions. In 2000 she returned to Vilnius, where she lives and organises exhibitions. Since 2007 she has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union (in 2007 she was granted the status of creator). She has held over 50 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, and actively participates in group exhibitions (over 40 group exhibitions).
