More about this artwork

In the painting "Still Life with Pomegranate," a vivid and enthralling scene unfolds, bursting with color and whimsical elements. At the center, a large, halved pomegranate filled with seeds dominates, suspended in a crimson, bowl-like form. This bright red is reflected throughout the scene, with splashes on foliage, the ground, and the creatures within, imparting a sense of unity and vibrancy.Below, a fantastical white deer with delicate red flowers sprouting from its back, drinks from the pomegranate, accompanied by a similarly adorned swan whose long neck curls gracefully. Both animals emit a mythical aura, underscored by their serene postures and the ornate, floral patterns adorning their bodies. The background is alive with a floral tapestry, blending an array of colors, predominantly reds, yellows, and greens that suggest a forest or garden. Various forms reminiscent of flowers and plants create a lush, dense atmosphere. The scene suggests not just a moment frozen in time but a living, breathing world where nature and imagination intertwine seamlessly.

I am a painter whose works have been displayed at multiple local exhibitions here in Lithuania. My technique primarily involves the use of watercolour and oil on canvas, combined to get an aesthetically pleasing synergy of colour and form. Living in an animal farm deep within Lithuanian countryside, surrounded by velvet lakes and untamed woods, my inspiration comes from nature, local folktales and fantasies they arouse. I am inspired by my personal experiences, some, as an artist in Lithuanian countryside, and thus when asked to explain my imagery I often find myself at a loss, unable to ascribe a single source of meaning. I graduated from the National School of Art and in 2008 I was awarded the Master of Arts by Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania.
