More about this artwork

The artwork is saturated with warm colors, predominantly yellows and reds, evoking the radiance and heat of the sun. An abstract style dominates, with bold, irregular shapes layered over each other. Strokes and lines appear deliberately textured, giving a tactile quality to the visual experience. Among these forms, a rough silhouette of a figure emerges on the left side, suggesting a human-like presence engaged in a salutation or offering. Contrasting patches of blue add depth to the composition and could be indicative of sky or water, providing a cool counterbalance to the hot oranges and reds. Black grid-like patterns over areas of the canvas hint at structure or confinement within the overall fluidity of the form, suggesting a tension between freedom and restriction. The entire image pulses with dynamic energy, mirroring the life-giving force of the sun and the fervent motion of greeting it.

Artist

In his works, the artist combines subtly graduated colour blocks with line prints. The two almost always meet in expressive colour contrast, but their arrangement is constructive and logical. According to the artist himself: "I am looking for a rhythm, which I compose from complex regular lines and black segments. Because our life is a repetition of everything. Breathing and heartbeats, successive seasons, sunsets and sunrises, high and low tides..."

Speaking of rhythm, note  the titles of the works - how many sonatas there are. It's like a hint to the viewer that when looking at the paintings, we should not limit ourselves to our eyesight, that we should try to hear these rhythms. The link with music in art is very eloquent, as if it gives the work another dimension, but at the same time it is completely abstract. Kandinsky also drew a parallel between painting and music when he said that music is the purest form of artistic expression, and that abstraction is the closest thing to abstraction in visual art. M. K. Čiurlionis also felt the kinship between art and music very well. Observe how the colours repeat, which ones contrast and which ones flow from each other, how they are arranged, what happens to the lines - this will help you to feel the rhythm of which the author speaks.

So, listen, let your thoughts flow and you will feel the true beauty.
