More about this artwork

The painting features a vividly colored, abstract depiction of what appears to be a worm. Dominated by bold primary colors—blue, red, and touches of yellow—the figure twists dynamically against a neutral grayish background, suggestive of both movement and fluidity. The worm-like shape is outlined in a thin black line that helps define its form, separating the different colored sections which perhaps indicate various aspects or segments of its body. The head of the creature is slightly elevated, with two small antenna-like protrusions, adding character and a bit of whimsy to the depiction. The playful use of colors and the lively, curved form of the worm create a captivating and imaginative visualization.

Artist

Rimtautas Špokas never allows himself to feel sad when painting, and this is reflected in his brightly coloured works.

He uses bright outlines, cheerful, pure colours and often chooses to depict stylized images of various animals. Some of them are real, others imaginary, and the artist always tries to give them character so that they bring a smile to the viewer. These paintings are perfect for brightening up a child's room.

He has been actively involved and participates in various visual protests in an attempt to defend the destruction of Lithuanian nature and the Old Town of Vilnius.

Rimtautas' works have been purchased by private individuals in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Germany and, of course, Lithuania.
