More about this artwork

This painting presents a serene portrayal of bamboo, spread across a triptych format. The central panel features bamboo stalks and leaves rendered in fine, delicate brush strokes, suggesting an East Asian influence in technique and style. The background is pale, almost white, accentuating the dark, ink-like quality of the bamboo depiction. This panel is intersected by a taupe-colored ribbon that creates a sense of depth by partly obscuring and binding the composition, along with a subtle circular seal near the ribbon adding an artistic signature.Flanked by the main artwork are two smaller panels, each in contrast to the central one; they have a black background that starkly frames smaller, precise paintings of bamboo and also include wooden elements which echo the earthier tones of the ribbon, contributing to the balanced, harmonious aesthetic. These outer panels also carry a minimalist feel with their own red seals near the bottom, lending a further authenticity and traditional feel to the whole piece. The use of dark and light areas, along with natural materials, gives the triptych a contemplative and connected appeal, reflecting the grace and resilience symbolized by bamboo.

Artist

East Asian ink painting  is the basis of Indre's work. Ink painting is based on the same aesthetic and technical principles as calligraphy. Indre is particularly fascinated by East Asian art, philosophy, poetry and nature.

Harmony, contact with nature, simplicity, minimalism, subtlety - these principles of Eastern aesthetics are reflected in Indre's paintings. The paintings maintain a beautiful balance between drawing and white space, the eye glides pleasantly through expressive, long brushstrokes, and equally explores the meticulously painted details. Unlike other types of painting, line and stain are more important here than colour. Whether the line is soft or harsh, solid and long or short, choppy, structured, we get a sense of what the artist is depicting and what she wants to say.

Indrė is also a debut artist. In 2022, she published her own illustrated children's book, Eido's Summer.
