More about this artwork

The painting features a magpie, characterized by its black color and distinctive white patches, sitting in an old, worn-out armchair. The armchair, in shades of gray, shows signs of aging and wear, with visible rips and exposed stuffing. The magpie occupies the seat as if it has made the chair its home, embodying an air of possession and adaptation. The simple, somber color palette and fluid watercolor brushstrokes add a melancholic yet whimsical ambiance to the scene. The artwork captures a moment of stillness, suggesting a narrative interspersed with themes of solitude and resilience.

Artist

I am currently studying for a Master's degree at Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Paintings ideas come from observing my own environment and then „steal“ some details of that place. These details tend to find me themselves and then I realize that yes, somehow it must be important to me, and I only realize the importance of moment and detail much later. The characters in the paintings are often influenced by everyday melancholy and in no hurry contemplating with themselves.

I‘m not attached to one technique and tool. I have noticed that I am naturally looking for different ways of expressing myself through painting and that is why the paintings themselves often look different. Often in the same work, oil painting combines with acrylic or spray paint and sometimes with markers. Almost every work is dominated by a figurative composition with large areas of solid color. As if two quite different art trends are merged - easel painting and street art. Most artwork distinguished with contour line and a bright contrasting color palette.
