More about this artwork

The painting captures a beautiful bouquet of gladiolus flowers, rendered in soft, blending shades of pink and red with subtle hints of yellow at the edges of the petals. The flowers are depicted with a sense of delicate transparency, showcasing the artist’s skillful use of watercolor to create depth and texture. The blossoms are vertically oriented, tightly bundled together by what appears to be a white string or ribbon, against a mottled grey backdrop that suggests a misty or diffuse light setting. The image exudes a gentle, serene quality, with each flower uniquely detailed and vividly colored, suggesting the freshness and vibrant life of gladioli in bloom.

Ana Marija Blažienė - architect, watercolour artist, teacher.

Since 2010 The artist participates in solo and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. Her works have been purchased in Lithuania, the USA, Germany and Taiwan.

“I have been working with watercolor since my studies. While studying, time was spent between the cozy streets and courtyards of the old town, portraying nature, the vibration of the old town, the play of light and are frozen in my watercolors.

I try to capture the cozy summer moments of Vilnius Old Town, so the warm air seems to be shaking.

In winter scenes, white thick snow sheets cover the old tiled roofs.

Other works capture short summer moments from the Lithuanian seaside in Nida, boats, wooden huts, and windsurfers. The sea shimmering in the marine artworks takes you to a carefree holiday summer, where there is peace and the sand of the dunes is falling between your fingers. You can smell the sea and hear the the waves.

Summer in Lithuania takes us to the old archaic village streets in the national parks. Surrounding nature, old wooden authentic architecture inspires the themes of heritage and history.

My works are dominated by soft pastel colors, balanced by small white areas, preserved like pearls, which are key elements when conveying space,” - says the artist.
