More about this artwork

In the painting, an ethereal, misty backdrop in soft, muted tones of green and brown seemingly melts downwards, overlaying the entire scene with a sense of both tranquility and melancholy. Dominating the center is a smaller scale traditional boat, its graceful, elongated form gently resting on what appears to be a reflective water surface, though its boundaries blur with the surroundings. A lone figure stands poised at the stern, appearing contemplative or perhaps lost in the vastness of time, wearing what looks like a long coat and a hat or hood. Overhead, large, orb-like shapes float, adding a surreal touch to the ambiance, with each orb reflecting a soft light and casting faint shadows. Their presence contributes to the mystical or dream-like quality of the scene. The overall atmosphere of the painting is haunting and serene, inviting a reflective mood upon the viewer.

Raimundas Dzimidavičius (1960) is a painter who constantly balances between abstraction and drawing. The spectrum of themes of the prolific author is quite wide, but the most prominent line is the line of searching for the human soul. The artist is interested in the coming and going of man from this world, his transience, the question of the meaning of life. Often, angels, beings from beyond, appear in his works; this world and the beyond are merged into one. The author emphasises man's striving to seek something beyond the everyday and to spread goodness.

R. Dzimidavičius has been studying at the Martinaitis Art School since 1974.

From 1981-1984 he studied applied decorative arts at ZNUI in Moscow.

For 15 years he worked as a painter and sculptor in the art workshop of the Anapa branch of the Russian Art Foundation.

Since 2000 he has been living in Lithuania as a free artist.
