More about this artwork

This painting, "Heaven On Earth," reveals a vibrant and ethereal landscape that captivates with its dynamic composition of nature and architecture blending seamlessly. At first glance, the viewer's eye is drawn to the rushing waterfalls that cascade into a serene blue pool. The waterfalls split the landscape, with lush green foliage densely packed around them. Trees with twisting trunks and full canopies dot the countryside, while tall, narrow cypress trees stand imposingly, adding a touch of solemnity to the scene.A stone path leads to an ancient, columned structure on the right, suggesting the remains of a once-grand civilization. This path, made from large stones, invites exploration into the depths of the painting. Near the columns, a white figure, perhaps a statue, overlooks the scene, adding a classical or mystical element to the atmosphere. The skies are dramatic, painted with moody hues of gray and light breaking through the clouds, illuminating parts of the landscape and creating a play of light and shadow that enhances the mystical feeling of the scene. This painting succeeds in merging elements of the natural world with hints of human history, creating a timeless and surreal vista that suggests the beauty and mystery of a paradise on earth.

Raimundas Dzimidavičius (1960) is a painter who constantly balances between abstraction and drawing. The spectrum of themes of the prolific author is quite wide, but the most prominent line is the line of searching for the human soul. The artist is interested in the coming and going of man from this world, his transience, the question of the meaning of life. Often, angels, beings from beyond, appear in his works; this world and the beyond are merged into one. The author emphasises man's striving to seek something beyond the everyday and to spread goodness.

R. Dzimidavičius has been studying at the Martinaitis Art School since 1974.

From 1981-1984 he studied applied decorative arts at ZNUI in Moscow.

For 15 years he worked as a painter and sculptor in the art workshop of the Anapa branch of the Russian Art Foundation.

Since 2000 he has been living in Lithuania as a free artist.
