More about this artwork

In the painting titled "Pajauta" by Orinta Klimaitė, a surreal and expressive visual narrative unfolds. Centered is a striking, contorted figure within a triangular framework that is suspended by a hook, suggesting a mechanical or puppet-like constraint. This figure, pale and drawn with minimalist detail, lacks hair and exhibits exposed muscle or inner workings on the legs, adding a visceral sense of vulnerability. Its arms and legs are entangled or matted with dark, vine-like lines, which could signify veins or puppet strings, blurring the lines between organic and manipulated existence. The background is softly textured with blends of blue and earthy tones, evoking a dreamlike or otherworldly atmosphere. To the right, a faint impression of a separate, ghostly figure appears to drift away, or possibly observes the scenario. Below, the landscape or ground is teeming with surreal plant-like growths, lush and vibrant, suggesting a living, active environment that contrasts sharply with the passivity and melancholia of the central figure. The overall mood is one of poignant introspection, possibly exploring themes of human fragility, control, and the interplay between the natural and the constructed. The use of space and color amplifies a sense of tension between freedom and confinement, the ethereal and the corporeal.

Artist

I am Orinta Klimaitė, a resident in dermatovenerology, a prosector at the Institute of Anatomy, LSMU, and therefore my work is close to anatomy and the human body.

During these years of study, I can't stop wondering how in such a structurally orderly, harmoniously working organism, where every organ has its own function, where every change is compensated for and homeostasis is maintained, such an unpredictable, intangible, formless, unnameable human soul can hide.

In my work I try to show how much struggle, contrast and uncertainty can be contained in a single body that is trying to find its true self, in order to resist the prevailing ideologies and standards created by society. To remain myself, without abandoning my nature, without being afraid to feel, is my goal.
