More about this artwork

The painting depicts a serene, somewhat mystical coastal scene at low tide. The central focus is a large, dark, rock-like formation surrounded by calmer, shallow waters reflecting a pale light. Around this rock, textures suggesting sand and muck reveal themselves, typical of seabeds exposed by withdrawing tides. The background features a blurred, misty horizon where lighter, earthy tones of yellow and gray conjure images of a distant, hidden landscape, possibly cliffs or hilly terrains shrouded in fog.The upper part of the painting carries hints of structures, perhaps buildings, emerging in soft focus, floating like mirages above the horizon. The sky, a grainy mix of yellow and gray, looks to be illuminated by a low sun or moon, casting a dreamlike glow over the entire scene.Prominently, the lower part of the artwork is dotted with multiple fish figures, rendered subtly to blend with the watery foreground, reinforcing the marine theme. Their presence infuses life into the otherwise still and serene environment, suggesting a dance of aquatic life beneath the surface, unseen yet palpably present. The use of diffused, soft edges and a muted palette gives the painting a sense of timeless tranquility, while also evoking a mild sense of melancholy, typical of vast, empty landscapes exposed at low tide. The gentle interplay of light and shadow, texture and form, all contribute to a feeling of being in a liminal space, between the known and the mysterious.

Vytautas Koženiauskas Norberto born in 1958. Citizen of Kaunas in the 4th generation, who has a wonderful family. Since 2010 a member of Lithuanian Union of Craftsmen and Artists.

I was fond of drawing and painting since childhood, and remember myself doing it everywhere even during math lessons.

When my children got older I started to paint on canvas and finally could find more time for my passion.

I was eager to create my own technique using different paints, earth, clay, herbs, rust, paper and wood. So this was the way I made my paintings. Nowadays I still prefer my own technique.

The highest appreciation for me is when people decorate their houses with my paintings which inspires me to create futher.
