More about this artwork

In the painting, a boy wearing a blue onesie with a hood is depicted floating amidst a starry, deep blue background. His pose suggests motion or dancing, with one leg bent and arms outstretched. Opposite him, an anteater is also floating, presented upside down with its long snout pointing downward and tail curled upward, in a relaxed state as though it is enjoying the lack of gravity. Surrounding them both are several small, yellow dots, evocative of stars, adding a whimsical, outer-space feeling to the scene. The boy and the anteater seem isolated in their own activities yet connected through the vast, star-filled space around them.

Artist

Maksym Golovko lives and works in Kaunas since 2012.

In his works he tries to express ideas through images. He is most interested in the themes of human relationships, communication, loneliness and attitude to the world, the relationship between man and nature. The author often emphasises man's detachment from nature, distancing, exploitation, when man, who should be a part of nature himself, becomes a bystander or even an oppressor. The artist usually chooses an attractive illustrative style, which is well suited to the implied irony, and the protagonists of his work are usually not human beings but animals.
