Artist

The artist was born and grew up in Vilnius. She obtained a bachelor of arts degree at Vytautas the Great University and a master's degree at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Currently, she devotes her time to creativity and work with children. Laura Mickutė participates in various events and lectures, she also has a lot of volunteering experience.  Laura Mickutė started to be interested in art from childhood when her grandfather Eugenijus Borouchinas introduced her to brushes and paints. Grandfather had graduated from the Art Institute and had been creating stained glass all his life so the house often smelled of paint and was full of various sketches and other works. While studying, the artist traveled by public transport which inspired her to study buses and trolleybuses so the main motifs in the paintings are various vehicles.

"Trolley lines, lights, colors and finally their emotions - all this seems to tell about the traveled path of life. They seem to look at you and smile. Transport is changing and so are their lines, they seem to be getting tighter but the lights still glow with warmth. That impressed me." - said the artist.

The artist likes vehicles that are older and rarely found on the streets. Laura Mickutė often travels, when she sees a vehicle parked somewhere or even no longer in use, or maybe just unusual, she examines it how it looks from all sides and makes sure to take photos that she could paint it later.
