More about this artwork

The painting presents a stylized portrait of Buddha, executed in a palette primarily of muted grays, black, and touches of gold and blue, imparting a serene and somewhat mystical quality. The face of Buddha is captured in a state of peaceful meditation, eyes gently closed, which evokes a sense of tranquility and inward reflection. The features are gracefully elongated, with the ears notably stretched, a common depiction in traditional representations of Buddha, symbolizing the all-hearing.The texture on the canvas is rich and varied, with what appears to be thick, impasto strokes contributing to a tactile roughness, especially noticeable in the hair and the rounded ushnisha on top of the head—a cranial bump often interpreted as a symbol of his spiritual wisdom. Sporadic splashes of blue and gold provide a luminous contrast to the otherwise monochrome scheme, suggesting spiritual richness and perhaps a glimpse into the transcendent. The dripping paint at the neck and below adds a fluid, almost ethereal quality to the piece, giving the impression that the figure is both emerging from and dissolving into the surrounding space.

"My name is Agnė Mitkutė. I am a graduate in graphic/industrial design, but still looking for myself. I'm the kind of person who likes a little bit of everything in life. Art is a beloved hobby that pushes me forward in all aspects of my work. Photography, painting, make-up, make-up...

For me, art is freedom, because I can't put myself in a box and make it a permanent job. I only paint when I need to relax and only what I find comfortable, peaceful, beautiful and gives me good emotions. Painting helps me to concentrate and to completely "unplug" my brain. Since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by the history of Egypt, the patterns of India, the music, the tranquillity of Thailand... Although I haven't been there yet, it's all very close to my heart... I feel like I really lived there in my past life! The rich, bright colours, the glitter, the warmth... it all surrounds me," the author introduces herself.

Agne's repertoire is dominated by portraits pulsating with exotic rhythms and the colours. Through them, the beauty of man and the joy of life are revealed.
