Darya Hancharka was born in Minsk, Belarus. Graduated from the Belarusian Academy of Arts, Vilnius Academy of Arts. Now the artist has lived and worked in Vilnius.
Darya's paintings are dominated by abstracted landscapes and cityscapes. The artist breaks down the visible landscape into large patches of colour, which she combines into a new composition with almost no use of drawing, only expressive, broad brushstrokes. Despite the size of the colour planes, one can see that they shimmer, flicker and flow into each other; the artist deliberately does not mask the brushstrokes, and sees the beauty of expression in every touch of the brush.
